Deepening volunteerism and investing in local creativity

2019 marked the first year of local creativity. Since 2019, the Association has also started to focus on local creative issues, actually visiting communities to learn about local cultural heritage, to understand future development priorities and resource needs of the community, and to help local groups find new ways to employ their cultural assets to encourage young people to return to their hometowns to work. We expect that manpower is the first investment that we need to develop.

We visited a number of diverse communities. For example, we saw the century-old stone weirs of Xinwu in Taoyuan and the Stone Weir Association as well as the Damaopu Survey Group in Taichung’s Dongshi. The need for manpower to do things like stone restoration, hold seasonal events, and carry out ecological surveys, were mentioned during all the visits, so we discussed with the two organizations the idea of long-term commitment of corporate volunteers for the program. This is expected to be implemented in 2021.
